Scitons BroadBand light (BBL) and Moxi laser treatment

New favourite treatment alert! Scitons BroadBand light (BBL) and Moxi laser treatment

What is BBL?

Broadband light is one of the most powerful light-based devices on the market. It’s a non-invasive light-based treatment for rejuvenating the skin. It helps to treat skin conditions such as sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, scarring, rosacea and much more. It improves skin texture by stimulating the production of collagen in the skin. As we get older, our body decreases the level of collagen we produce, leaving us with troubles such as fine lines and wrinkles. As collagen is responsible for repairing the skin, a boost in collagen helps a great deal with things such as acne and acne scarring and any other visible blemishes.

What is Moxi?

Moxi is a new technology designed with everyone in mind. It’s safe to use on every skin type, all year round, with low downtime. Amazing!  Much like BBL, it is beneficial for many things such as pigmentation, skin tone and texture, sun damage and skin ageing, and long term maintenance for maintaining the appearance of healthy skin. There are many advantages to Moxis, such as:

  • Long-lasting results – Studies include patients treated 10+ years ago
  • Fast treatment – The average treatment time is 10-15 minutes for the full face
  • Can be used on all body areas – Face, neck, chest, arms and hands
  • It can be used on stubborn skin concerns like melasma which a lot of other light therapies can not

What are the similarities and differences between BBL and IPL?

BBL stands for BroadBand Light, and IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. They both treat the same things, such as the skin conditions listed above, and both use non-invasive light waves to treat the skin. Both require no downtime, apart from avoiding the sun on the skin. BBL treats the skin in a different way, as it’s using broadband light, which is a different form of light in comparison to IPL. The BBL is also a lot more comfortable to endure on the skin, and we tend to see results after half the amount of sessions we would if we were to use IPL.

What are the similarities and differences between BBL and Moxi?

BBL targets pigmentation and redness even in the deeper layers of the skin by using filters that are attractive to different skin concerns. The Moxi only works on the surface of the skin to help improve skin texture and tighten the skin. It can also help with surface pigmentation. For best results, we recommend using both treatments to complement each other, rather than one over the other.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

It’s starting to become clear that BBL is the gold standard of photo facial skin rejuvenation, and all of us at Define Clinic certainly back that. A change at the molecular level is what sets the BBL apart from IPL, but BBL combined with Moxi is an incredible duo and not a force to be reckoned with! However, with any skin treatment, it is best to have a consultation with a professional so that your skin can be used, and the best treatment plan can be put in place for you. Please contact us if this is something you would be interested in, and one of our skin experts will be able to assist you on your skin journey.
